We want to give our California customers advance notice of a change to their Photo Mechanic subscription charges.
Beginning January 1, 2027, California is expanding its sales and use tax to cover electronically delivered software and software subscriptions under Senate Bill 122. As a result, applicable California sales tax will be added to Photo Mechanic subscription billings beginning in January.
California’s base state rate is 7.25%. Once you add local and district taxes on top, combined rates run from 7.25% up to 11.25% depending on a user’s location, which is to say the amount will vary based on the applicable tax rate where your billing address is in California. There’s no single rate that fits all in California. The additional charge is tax collected under California’s new requirements, rather than an increase in Photo Mechanic’s subscription price.
