The catalog feature in Photo Mechanic Plus relies on a 3rd-party technology that is now unsupported. Due to constant changes in the operating system environment, this technology is no longer stable and is actively breaking Photo Mechanic Plus for most users.
Following the loss of the catalog feature’s architect, our team has been unable to create a solution for these catastrophic issues. We’ve had long sessions of investigation and have put extreme effort into trying to work around or fix these issues. Unfortunately, these efforts have not resulted in getting the catalog feature to a stable, usable state on current operating systems. Therefore, we’ve made the difficult decision to shelve Photo Mechanic Plus, and it will no longer be available for purchase.
We know this news will be a deep disappointment for those of you who have come to rely on the Catalog for your valuable archives since the release of Photo Mechanic Plus in 2022. Frankly, we are heartbroken as well, though we know this will come as little consolation to our users.
FOR CURRENT PHOTO MECHANIC PLUS USERS:
We want to assure you that we will continue to provide customer and technical support for your existing Photo Mechanic Plus software for as long as it remains stable on your current operating system. If we can find ways to keep it working for your system, we will do that. We will also continue to investigate possible migration plans for databases into other systems to see how feasible they might be. Stay tuned for more on that as we dig deeper into those options.
If you are a current Photo Mechanic Plus user, please contact our Support team to discuss your options going forward.
