Announcing Extension of Free Updates for Some Perpetual Licenses
We are extending the period of free updates for perpetual licenses of Photo Mechanic and Photo Mechanic Plus that were purchased between 11 March 2024 and 17 March 2025.
A perpetual license of Photo Mechanic is a one-time purchase that will continue to function as long as you maintain the hardware and operating system that was current at the time of your purchase. If you keep the same setup as when you purchased the perpetual license, it will run without needing updates or continued subscription payments.
Included with the purchase, to avoid a situation where a new feature is released right after you buy a perpetual license, a one-year period of free feature updates is included when you purchase. Our licensing system refers to this as a “maintenance period,” and if you purchased a perpetual license of Photo Mechanic after 11 March 2024, this information is usually in your license management options, which you can find by clicking “Manage your activations” on the Find Your Account page at home.camerabits.com/find-account and then under “Licenses” it is listed as “Maintenance End Date.”
We have extended the free update/maintenance period for all users who purchased a perpetual license after 11 March 2024 and before 17 March 2025. While this will not be reflected in your license management information, new builds of Photo Mechanic and Photo Mechanic Plus will be available for an extra year of feature updates and maintenance to perpetual license holders purchased within the period noted above.
In summary, if you purchased a perpetual license of Photo Mechanic or Photo Mechanic Plus after 11 March 2024 and before 17 March 2025, you will receive one additional year of updates beyond what is displayed in your license management information. For example, if you purchased a perpetual license and activated it on 11 Feb 2025, your “Maintenance End Date” will display as “2026-02-11” but you will be able to get free updates through Feb 2027.
